Mahlape Sello SC is a Senior Counsel at the Johannesburg Bar and an evidence leader on the Madlanga Commission. Admitted as an advocate in 2003 and a member of the Johannesburg Society of Advocates, she has built a practice in commercial and public law and serves as an arbitrator on the panels of the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa and the China-Africa Joint Arbitration Centre.

She was a member of the South African Law Reform Commission from 2007 to 2011 and was reappointed in 2013, chaired the appeal committee of the Advertising Standards Authority, and has served on the board of Life Healthcare. In 2022 she was one of three members of the Section 89 independent panel - alongside former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo and Judge Thokozile Masipa - that examined the Phala Phala matter and found that President Ramaphosa may have a case to answer.
